Objectives

Sharing common objectives

Each UNESCO Chair project is unique. It is characterized by the relevance of its expertise. Its community presence demonstrates its willingness to create new relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. Its unique perspective must demonstrate its capacity to innovate and experiment given the situations encountered. The outcomes expected involve creative ways of doing things leading to the well-being and autonomy of First Peoples, with, by and for themselves.

However diverse, all projects supported by the Chair share common objectives among the work of each team and across all teams. All actions seek to:

  • develop the transmission of Indigenous knowledge by ensuring its rightful place within the school and the public domain;
  • encourage the creativity of First Peoples youth and stimulate their interest in their culture;
  • develop collaborative research methodologies through innovative intercultural and interdisciplinary practices;
  • strengthen partnerships for the development and implementation of concerted actions related to the needs of Indigenous and Inuit Nations of Quebec, Canada and abroad.
